Occupational health today: challenges and the need for transformation
The development of industry, the launch of new productions, and large-scale infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan increase the requirements for occupational health and industrial safety systems. According to government agencies, industrial injuries and professional risks remain one of the key socio-economic problems, especially in the mining, metallurgical, oil and gas, and petrochemical sectors. The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan has repeatedly emphasized that labor safety and the preservation of workers' lives should be an unconditional priority for the state and business, and the formation of a safety culture should not be a formality but part of corporate governance and employer responsibility.
Against this background, the implementation of:
systems for assessing and managing professional risks,
digital and analytical tools,
industrial safety culture,
Process Safety Management (PSM) approaches, especially in the context of the construction and launch of new petrochemical productions, becomes particularly relevant.
These issues will become the key topics of KIOSH 2026.
